New Year = Year of Firsts

2012 Ferrari 612 Replacement (Courtesy of MotorAuthority)
Remember the Ferrari California? That was a big "first" car in the Ferrari Showcase. It was the first Ferrari with a 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission. It was the first Ferrari convertible with a metal-folding roof and two extra seats. It was the first Ferrari with a V8 engine in the front of the car instead of the middle. This car really changed Ferrari's outlook. Now, for 2011, Ferrari's bringing out another "first" car. This time, it will be the first Ferrari ever in its history with and I quote "All-Wheel Drive". This new Prancing Horse will replace the current grand-touring 612 Scaglietti. No word on if this car will still have 4 seats like the 612 does, but it will be pretty fast. It will use the same 6.3-liter 670 horsepower V12 engine the 599 GTO uses. But, instead of being connected to a 6-speed F1 transmission, it will be connected to a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission similar to that of the 458 Italia. That means 0 to 60 will be reached in about 3.7 seconds and its top speed will be 208 MPH. If this new Prancing Horse does have 4 seats, it could be the fastest grand-tourer in the world. Let's hope it does. Be on the lookout for this new Prancing Horse in March at the Geneva Motor Show. Here's a video of Ferrari prepping the 612 Replacement.
