Lotus Rivalry

2011 Lotus Renault GP R31
After a very long hiatus, Lotus has finally returned to Formula One. But, what's strange about their comeback is that there are two teams that have acquired the Lotus brand. The one you're looking at now is the one which has teamed up with Renault to produce their new team car, the GP R31. The body and engine were designed and built by Renault while Lotus covered livery and advertising.

2011 Lotus Challenger T128
This one is Lotus's official F1 car, the Challenger T128. Although it uses a Renault engine, the design, body, and livery were done by Lotus themselves. These two teams will be competing in this season of F1. With two teams upholding the Lotus brand on their cars, who knows what will happen. All I can say is that there's going to be some serious rivalry between these two.

150 Ways to Win

2011 Ferrari F150
Ferrari's back for the 2011 Formula One Season, and this time they're pulling out all the stops in order to bring home a trophy. This is their new team wheels, the Ferrari F150. Now, it might not look any different from the previous F1, the Ferrari F10, but Ferrari say that they've improved the aerodynamics and stabilization of this car in order to produce keen results. They've also improved on their 2.4-liter V8 engine. It now has over 800 horsepower, new architecture, and their new KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) system. This will improve stability, efficiency, and, most importantly, speed. Ferrari still has no intention of switching to a turbo-4 engine, which is what the FIA want to do for 2013. Anyway, hopefully this new flagship race car will help Ferrari get in more wins, or else they'll be in a hole that'll be pretty impossible to come out of. See the unveiling below.

Fast-Action Cop

2011 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport Interceptor (Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit)
Who ever said that police officers don't like fast, expensive cars? I mean, of course they want you to watch the speed limit when you're driving, but it doesn't hurt giving your slick exotic car a whirl sometimes. Some police officers have confessed that they themselves would do that if they had a fast car. In fact, Tonight Show host, Jay Leno, was on Top Gear a few years back giving a good example of how some cops like fast cars. Let's just say it involved a few undercover officers, the streets of LA, and Jay's McLaren F1. Take a look at the whole interview with Jeremy Clarkson below.

Serious Speed

Bugatti Veyron vs. McLaren F1
Two of the fastest cars in the world. A battle of power and sure speed. Only Top Gear had the ability to make this happen. If you have seen the battle between these two cars, then you know what the outcome is. However, if you haven't, I've posted it here so you can see just what happens between them. Top Gear host Richard Hammond wanted to find out if the old Fastest Car in the World, the McLaren F1, still had enough to take on the new Fastest Car in the World, the Bugatti Veyron, in a 1-mile straight drag race. Unfortunately, their airfield isn't as big and bad for these cars to duke it out. So, they sent them to the only place where speed is everything: Dubai. Hammond went behind the wheel of the Veyron, while his Stiggyness himself, The STIG, took the F1 for a whirl. Remember, the Veyron has more horsepower, torque, and traction than the F1. However, the F1 is much lighter, has no driving aids, and is somewhat more aerodynamic than the Veyron. I'm not gonna say anything more about this. Just Watch and see what happens!

Passing With Flying Colors

Michael Schumacher racing in the Mercedes MGP W01
In F1, it's not only about having a very fast car. It's also about being safe in it. Take for instance Ayrton Senna, one of the best drivers in the Formula One league who raced for Williams. He was a fantastic racer, but a catastrophic accident not only smashed his car, but ended his life as well. It was then that the FIA had to take precautions in safety with racing. Now, cars must be tested for faults and crashes. There have been some teams that have failed the tests, but some teams that went on to pass, with flying colors. The Mercedes-Benz GP Petronas Team was one of them. So what they've done was created a racing ma chine that has a lot of power (over 870 horsepower), is unbelievably lightweight (less than 700 kg), is extremely fast (almost 230 MPH), and is safe at the same. According to recent reports, when testing the F1 car for crashes, it passed with flying colors. This happened to be the second F1 team to pass the FIA crash tests. Can you guess what the first team was? If you said Ferrari, then you're correct.

Four-Cylinder Rubbish!!!

2010 Ferrari F60
It seems like the Formula One League want to make some changes to the cars in 2013. Instead of having massive V8 engines power the racing cars, they suggest having turbocharged 4-cylinder engines power the cars in order to save weight, petrol, and some green. Although it seemed like a good idea to the heads of the board, one member thought it was absolute rubbish, and you can guess from the picture where he's from. Ferrari CEO and the former president of the Formula One Team Association (FOTA), Luca di Montezemolo, was outraged by the idea of having turbo four engines power the F1 cars. You have to understand that the only engines Ferrari will make are V8 engines, V12 engines, and Twin-Turbocharged V8 engines for the future Enzo replacement. They have never created a four-cylinder engine for any of their cars, and they never plan to. You'd think Mr. Montezemolo was the only against this, but it seems Mercedes-Benz has joined the Fray as well. Mercedes-Benz motorsports chief Robert Haug notes that the change in engines would be uneconomical. The reason is that if they do change to four-cylinder engines, it will cost more money and more headache designing it and tuning it while they could just stick to the ones they have now. This has been common in F1. First in the late 60's to 80's,  Formula One cars were powered by V12 engines. Then in the 90's, V10 engines were used. In the new millenium, V8's were introduced. There's been a constant dying down of cylinders since the beginning of F1, and this is not good. According to Jeremy Clarkson, when it comes to cylinders, "More is better". Let's see if Ferrari and Mercedes-Benz can have other racing teams go up against this. What do you think? Should F1 stick with V8's or is it time for a change? Post your comments on here or on Facebook.

McLaren's Track Screamer

2012 McLaren MP4-12C GT3
In order to live up to the legendary F1, the MP4-12C has to be one of the greatest supercars on the planet, and that includes being powerful, scientific, fast, and performance worthy. So, McLaren, with collaboration from CRS Racing, have finally released teaser pics of what their new track screamer would look like, and it's something like this. We don't how much power it has, or how fast it will go, but McLaren have promised that this car will generate a sizable amount of wins in the FIA GT league. Good luck! They're up against Ferrari and their track screaming 458. The first batch of cars will built for private FIA racing teams at a pretty hefty price. Let's see McLaren storm back from a racing hiatus.
