The Evolution of Reasonable

2012 Honda Civic Si
Civic lovers rejoice! This is the all new 2012 Honda Civic. As you can see, they've only made a few cosmetic changes to the lights and bumpers, but as for overall shape, I don't really see a change here. It looks people like the new shape introduced in 2008. Anyway, the new Civic gets more fuel efficiency and more power for use on the road. The model you see above you is the Civic Si, which now has 200 horsepower, about as much as a VW Golf GTI. But even though it's powerful, you should get 31 MPG on this. That's pretty impressive for a powerful coupe. There are also other models beside this including the GX, the Hybrid, and the all new HF (High Efficiency). The standard motor is a 1.8-liter four cylinder one in the standard model which will get you 39 MPG. The HF, however, has the same motor, but aerodynamic tweaks allow it to have 2 more MPGs for driving. The Hybrid uses a 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine and a small electric motor powered by lithium ion batteries and not nickel (Well done Honda!). We don't know how much power this produces, but it is supposed to produce an estimated 45 MPG, 4 more than the original hybrid. Prices have not been announced yet, but they will be soon as the car is set to hit the showrooms this Summer.

A Prius-Alternative

2011 Honda CR-Z Sport Hybrid
I know that there are a lot of people reading my blog now who own a Toyota Prius. I would now like to take this time and ask a very important question to you owners: WHY? Why did you buy a Prius? Wouldn't it be better to save money on a car that's actually saving the earth rather than ruining it? Now there are a lot of cars that can do the job, but let's say you're the hybrid type of person. You believe in low emissions and fuel saving vehicles. If you fit this description, you might end up with the Prius. But, let's say you're also the fast and sporty type of person. You believe in putting your foot down and really pushing a car to its limits. If you still had your heart set on the Prius, then it's time for you to forget about it. That car will not cut the mustard for you, but there is a car that can, and it's from the company that you least expected. That's right! The Honda CR-Z is the perfect car if you're a mixture of green & sport. It's the first hybrid with a proper 6-speed manual gearbox. It's one of the first hybrids that actually looks really nice. It's the first hybrid with a real sport button.

Sport Button
It's also the first hybrid ever to actually be tunable, as proven here...

And, the most astonishing part is that if you do tune your CR-Z, you should still average about 40 MPG, making it very good. Now, I understand that the Prius can do more than that, but you won't have as much fun in the corners driving than this car. It's also quite affordable, too, with prices starting at under $20,000. So, if you've been looking for a hybrid that's fuel efficient and also has a dark side, then turn no further to Honda. They've done the CR-Z perfectly.

Aspiration is Key

1992 Porsche 968
We now live in a time where cars make power seem easy with Turbochargers and Superchargers. But, what about the cars that don't have these things? Where have they gone? Not to worry, some companies haven't been swayed by the ways of the turbo. So, here's a list of some cars that are powered by just power and pure engineering.

2009 Honda S2000
1. Honda S2000
This was and still is the fastest and most powerfully Naturally Aspirated 4-cylinder in the world with a rating of 240 horsepower and a top speed of 150 MPH. It handled corners gracefully and was a well known drifting machine. It was one of the greatest looking Hondas of it's time, since most Hondas are ugly, except the CR-Z.

2008 TVR Sagaris
 2. TVR Sagaris
It's a pantomizer this car. To this day, it still is the fastest and most powerful naturally aspirated V6 car on the planet with a power rating at 405 sharing it with its brother, the Tuscan S, and a top speed of 200 MPH. It was lightweight, quick, and unbelievably crazy. And it was all this without need of a turbo. Britain does it again!

2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG
3. Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG
Germans are crazy, and it's proved with this Merc. This year, Mercedes-Benz unleashed this German beast with a new 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 563 horsepower making it the most powerful Naturally Aspirated V8 in the world. It could hit a top speed of 198 MPH and hit 60 in 3.7 seconds making it very quick. It's also very good looking with its top model LED lights and signature Gullwing Doors. So there you are, one crazy German supercar from Mercedes-Benz.

2008 Bristol Fighter S
4. Bristol Fighter S
The British have done it again! This swoopy coupe is the fastest and most powerful naturally aspirated V10 car in the world with 628 horsepower and a top speed of 210 MPH. Might I add that this was made possible because of the all-mighty Viper. Since Chrysler and Bristol have been sharing engines since 1961, Bristol thought they'd use a Viper engine in their supercar and tune it a little bit to make it better. It might be cheating, but the outcome was magnificent.

2011 Aston Martin One-77
5. Aston Martin One-77
This is the most powerful naturally aspirated V12 of all time. The numbers: 750 horsepower, 0 to 60 in 3.4 seconds, 221 MPH, $1.7 Million. This is an artsy car with it's many curves and lines. It's very beautiful with big eyes and sexy grille. This is an ideal non turbo supercar. Now, it might be the most powerful, but it isn't the fastest.

1997 McLaren F1
6. McLaren F1
Even though its V12 engine was surpassed by an Aston Martin, the mighty McLaren F1 is to this day the fastest naturally aspirated car in the world with a top speed of 240 MPH with only 627 horsepower in its engine. When it was released, it was one of the greatest vehicles ever created; and it still is.

So there you are: your non-turbo heroes. Feel free to honor them.

Mugen Power

2011 Ariel Atom Mugen Special Edition
Many of you know about a car known as the Ariel Atom. It's the only car to go toe-to-toe with a Bugatti Veyron on a windy racetrack. Well, this year, they're turning 10 years old, and to celebrate, they've collaborated with Mugen, a Honda Performance branch, and developed this Tuner-Styled Atom. Now, Honda helped with the production of the Atom. In fact, the engine of this car was taken from a Honda Civic Type R and Supercharged. So, with Mugen running the performance bit, they helped increase the Atom's power from 245 to 270 horsepower. Since it's so lightweight, it will do 0 to 60 in less than 3.5 seconds. Pretty quick, huh? This car is coming and going quickly as well. They're only making 10 of these so reserve yours today!
