Geneva Rovers

2012 Land Rover Range_E Sport Plug-in Diesel Hybrid
It seems Land Rover's gonna leave it to the Range Rovers to wow the crowd at Geneva this year. They'll be bringing out some very exciting new models including this Plug-in Diesel Hybrid Rover. Land Rover promises that this car will get 700 miles in one tank with just 20 miles on electricity. This is all thanks to a 3.0-liter Turbodiesel V6 engine mated to a new 8-speed automatic ZF gearbox, along with an electric motor.

Then, there's this rather stunning Range Rover Autobiography for those who think that the Rover couldn't get anymore luxurious. The cost: $170,000. For that, you get luxury yacht-like interior including, expensive leather seats, teak flooring, drinks-globe luxury all around, iPads for entertainment, and 510 horsepower for your driver. So, for those wealthy businessmen or women out there who love the Range Rover and want a taste of the good life, you can now blow off $200k on an SUV that you can actually enjoy some expensive wine in.

Test Drive Unlimited 2: Final Preview

How Eden Games do Range Rovers
So, yesterday, I had a long and quite interesting chat with Noël Holmes, one of the dudes behind Test Drive Unlimited 2. He gave me an interesting break down of what's to come as the game approaches its release date. First off, there will be over 90 cars to buy on Ibiza ranging from the Turbo-nutting VW Golf Mk.6 GTI to the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. There will be over 3,000 km of road to drive on (Ibiza & Oahu combined). There are over 650 challenges to complete all over both islands. There will be dynamic changes in weather and time during gameplay. You will be able to share anything with your friends, whether it be clothes, items, or even cars. There will be DLCs (downloadable content) available for this game coming after the launch. You will be able to buy mansions, garages, even yachts. You can enter racing schools to hone in your driving skills. There is realistic damage in this game, so be careful how you're driving your car. You will be able to rise up and become some successful virtual billionaire. If you thought Facebook or World of Warcraft were the ultimate things in terms of social networking, this game brings you closer to friends than ever before, by racing. Pick up TDU 2 in game stores next month.

Rally Ready Rover

2011 Bowler Nemesis EXR
To date, we've seen the Land Rover Range Rover Sport as a sporty, luxurious SUV. However, it didn't turn out that way when Bowler got through with it. What you are looking at is a hardcore version of a Range Rover Sport Supercharged: the Bowler Nemesis EXR. Designed specifically for Dakar rally racing, this truck is road legal and can survive pretty much any terrain. The 5.0-liter Supercharged V8 engine has been upgraded from 510 horsepower to 600. Since it's lighter thanks to its two-seater arrangement and carbon fiber materials, 0 to 60 is now done in 4.2 seconds instead of 5.6 seconds. The top speed of this thing: 156 MPH. This speed is not only achievable on road. It is achievable anywhere: water, grass, mud, gravel, snow, you name it. This is probably the toughest Range Rover ever built, and Richard Hammond had a go in it in a special episode of Top Gear. Check it out below.

Rover from the Kahn Dynasty

2011 Project Kahn Range Rover RS500 Cosworth
It looks like tuning companies are now tuning diesel cars trying to make them more powerful, and Project Khan and Cosworth have joined the Fray. Now there aren't many tuning companies that can perfect the Range Rover, but these two combined managed to pull it off. The regular Range Rover Vogue TDV8 has a 4.4-liter Turbodiesel V8 einge producing 313 horsepower with a whopping 516 lb.-ft. of torque. Cosworth thought they could do better. So, behind closed doors, they managed to bump the power up by 187 to produce an incredible 500 horsepower Turbodiesel V8 engine. As for the torque, they've decided to keep that hidden, but because this is a Turbodiesel, expect it to be very, very high. Project Kahn helped with the styling and design of the new Range Rover giving it an aggressive bodykit, new 22-inch alloys, and new leather stitched interior, steering wheel, center console, and dashboard. Look for this aggressive Range Rover in the UK only next year.

Nor' Easter All Over Again

My Snowy Range Rover
This is what happens when the wind and snow just go at it in the Northeast. Apparently, over here in New Jersey, we're having about 10-inches of snow combined with 30 MPH wind gusts blowing snow all around. The roads are terrible whether they've been plowed or not. Cars have been slipping and sliding into other cars or ditches on the highway. Large 18-wheelers have Jackknifed leaving a mess a miles of traffic. What to do, what to do, what to do? There's a lot that you can do or should have done when faced with these snowy situations. You could have read my blog and saw the list of cars capable of taking on the snow, of which you can still read here. You could've also had a simpler approach when searching for a cheap all-wheel drive car. For example, the Subaru Impreza Outback or the Suzuki SX4 are two cheap all-wheel drive cars that work great in the snow. But, if these options don't work and you're stuck with your front-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive car, the best thing you can do is drive slowly and carefully. Don't drive like an idiot. Yesterday, I went to visit my relatives in Pennsylvania and left there at about 8:00 P.M. While driving back, there was this one teenage idiot in a Chevy S10. This truck was modded out with big off-road tires and everything, but what he failed to address was the drivetrain of his vehicle. Off-road tires work best on a car or truck with four-wheel drive. His truck only had two-wheel drive and managed to block off a road causing more commotion for drivers. He eventually got arrested for causing a disruption. Luckily, I got home safely thanks to my mighty Range Rover. So, a word of advice: pick your car well and drive carefully. Do that and you'll be fine during this harsh winter.

TDU2's Getting Embarrasing

TDU 2 Boxshot
So, if you're really excited about this racing/life game, don't be. I thought it would be good at first, but as it's turning out now, it might not be the game your looking for. First off, the car list was revealed a couple days ago. Now I don't know if that's the actual official car list, but there was an unbelievable lack of Lamborghini on the list, even though about 9 Lamborghinis were on the list in the last installment. I am excited about my Range Rover Sport, a couple of Bugattis, and some Ferraris making an appearance in the game, but it would've been better to see Lamborghini and Ferrari in the game since they're the main rivals in any racing game. Also, I don't know what they're doing, but nothing new has been happening in the beta. I honestly think that they're thinking the game is hopeless and have stopped it all together. Not fair for you guys cuz now, I can't give you any new information and gameplay videos on this game. So, if you're looking for a game with both Lamborghinis and Ferraris and realistic physics and features, there's only one game now with all of that: Gran Turismo 5!
