From Dweeby to Toughie

2011 Caterham-Lola SP/300.R
If you know Caterham, then you know that they're famous for making small, extremely fast cars like the CSR 260 and the Superlight R500. These were incredibly light and were only driven by road-racing dweebs. Well now, Caterham has gone from making dweeby sports cars to full-fledged race cars. This is the Caterham-Lola SP/300.R. It has the same engine as any Caterham: a 2.0-liter Supercharged Ford Duratec 4-cylinder engine producing 300 horsepower. But, since it's much wider and much lighter (1,323 lbs.) , 0 to 60 is done in 2.5 seconds! That's as fast as a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. The top speed, however is only up to 170 MPH. If it had more power, it would be doing 230 MPH instantly. But, Caterham don't make cars for speed. They make cars for tracks. This road-ready track racer was initially built for their one-make racing series starting this year, but a street-legal variant is already in the works. To get your own, fly all the way to Britain with a £60,000 check in your pocket made out to Caterham Motors. Make sure you're first in line as well, becuase only 25 will be made.
