World of Clarkson

Jeremy Clarkson
Life is swell if you are a Jeremy Clarkson. First off, you're the most offensive person on the face of the earth and there's nothing anyone else can do about it. That must feel great. You can totally diss a religion, have them get angry at you, and do absolutely nothing about it. That's awesome! Next, you have a pretty awesome car collection including a Ford GT, an Aston Martin DBS, an Austin-Healey Sprite, a Caterham Seven R400, and many more. Then, you're the host of a popular motoring show known as Top Gear that's worth over $10 billion and is watch by over 350,000,000 people around the world. You're a very popular guy. And now, you've got an iPhone app on the AppStore with your name on it called iClarkson, showcasing your best car reviews from the Audi R8 to the Maserati Quattroporte. It costs $7.99 and you can get it now on the AppStore. Then again, if you are a Jeremy Clarkson, you've always been fond of the iPhone, as I will prove below with some videos.

Godzilla Race Car

2011 Nismo GT-R Race Car
The Tokyo Auto Salon (Tokyo's SEMA) was on last weekend showcasing some really tuned up Imports from various tuners. Nismo was there to show-off a hardcore racing version of the GT-R. The power has not been increased, but the car itself has been modded with racing suspension, lighter parts, racing wheels & tires, and a roll cage. No word on if this car will enter any FIA races, but there is a possibility of a one-make challenge series involving this car.

Scirocco U.S. Bound?

2011 VW Scirocco R
A lot of German tuner fans have heard of the VW Scirocco. It's not even a Scirocco. It's a Golf that just looks pretty. Since its re-launch in 2008, the Scirocco has remained in Europe. But, there is some hope for the U.S. at hand as VW's U.S. Boss, Jonathan Browning, is right now working on getting the car over to our shores. That will seem nice because this car is quite good when it comes to handling and power. We don't know if it will be on our shores yet, but Browning told me he's working on it.

Small Worlds Get Bigger

2012 Mini Cooper D
Since BMW owns Mini, and BMW has gone into the diesel phase, Mini didn't think it was all bad to join them. So, behind closed doors, they worked on creating the first-ever diesel-powered Cooper. And, to our surprise, they've done it. We don't know what it looks like, but the picture you see above is its marking. The Cooper D will make its official debut in Geneva in March. Not much else has been said about this car except that it will feature a 2.0-liter Turbodiesel engine producing 143 horsepower with 225 lb.-ft. of torque making it one powerful Mini. Let's hope this diesel does great things when it launches later this year. That's another Cooper to add to the new Mini family.

A Prius-Alternative

2011 Honda CR-Z Sport Hybrid
I know that there are a lot of people reading my blog now who own a Toyota Prius. I would now like to take this time and ask a very important question to you owners: WHY? Why did you buy a Prius? Wouldn't it be better to save money on a car that's actually saving the earth rather than ruining it? Now there are a lot of cars that can do the job, but let's say you're the hybrid type of person. You believe in low emissions and fuel saving vehicles. If you fit this description, you might end up with the Prius. But, let's say you're also the fast and sporty type of person. You believe in putting your foot down and really pushing a car to its limits. If you still had your heart set on the Prius, then it's time for you to forget about it. That car will not cut the mustard for you, but there is a car that can, and it's from the company that you least expected. That's right! The Honda CR-Z is the perfect car if you're a mixture of green & sport. It's the first hybrid with a proper 6-speed manual gearbox. It's one of the first hybrids that actually looks really nice. It's the first hybrid with a real sport button.

Sport Button
It's also the first hybrid ever to actually be tunable, as proven here...

2011 Spoon Sports CR-Z
and also here.

2011 Honda CR-Z Hybrid R Concept
And, the most astonishing part is that if you do tune your CR-Z, you should still average about 40 MPG, making it very good. Now, I understand that the Prius can do more than that, but you won't have as much fun in the corners driving than this car. It's also quite affordable, too, with prices starting at under $20,000. So, if you've been looking for a hybrid that's fuel efficient and also has a dark side, then turn no further to Honda. They've done the CR-Z perfectly.

Test Drive Unlimited 2: Final Preview

How Eden Games do Range Rovers
So, yesterday, I had a long and quite interesting chat with Noël Holmes, one of the dudes behind Test Drive Unlimited 2. He gave me an interesting break down of what's to come as the game approaches its release date. First off, there will be over 90 cars to buy on Ibiza ranging from the Turbo-nutting VW Golf Mk.6 GTI to the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. There will be over 3,000 km of road to drive on (Ibiza & Oahu combined). There are over 650 challenges to complete all over both islands. There will be dynamic changes in weather and time during gameplay. You will be able to share anything with your friends, whether it be clothes, items, or even cars. There will be DLCs (downloadable content) available for this game coming after the launch. You will be able to buy mansions, garages, even yachts. You can enter racing schools to hone in your driving skills. There is realistic damage in this game, so be careful how you're driving your car. You will be able to rise up and become some successful virtual billionaire. If you thought Facebook or World of Warcraft were the ultimate things in terms of social networking, this game brings you closer to friends than ever before, by racing. Pick up TDU 2 in game stores next month.
