2012 Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid Facebook Edition

If you've been on Porsche's fan page on Facebook lately, you will have seen that they've reached over 1 Million fans. To celebrate this milestone, Porsche has created this commemorative 911 GT3 R Hybrid as a thank you to all their fans. From here, it doesn't look like they've done much. But if you look closely, you can see that the entire body of the car has been littered with 27,000 Facebook signatures of their many worthy fans. They couldn't fit 1,000,000. I don't know if my name's on their, but it would be cool if it were.

This car might be hitting the track soon, but for now, it stays in their museum in Stuttgart, Germany. If you're in the area, go check it out and see if you're name wounded up on the car.

2010 Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss (Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit)

Well TDU 2 is out and everybody joining in. But, if you thought that the best racing of 2010 was done, well, think again. More DLCs have been confirmed for Need For Speed Hot Pursuit coming in the next few weeks. Next week, an all new DLC named Armed and Dangerous will be released. This brings in two new modes to the game including Most Wanted & Arms Race. In Most Wanted, it's classic cops and robbers with the cops chasing down the racers and the racers protecting the most wanted driver. In Arms Race, it's every man for himself as racer weapons will be activated along with them for use in a races. The week after that, Lamborghini Untamed will be released. This gives racers and cops an access to three new vehicles from, you guessed it, Lamborghini. First, there's the ever famous Lamborghini Diablo, which has been in the Need For Speed franchise since the beginning. Then there's the artistically designed Lamborghini Countach, which was known for being good looking, but with horrible handling. And finally, to put the icing on the cake, the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept Car will be available, which on record is the lightest Lamborghini ever built. The week after that, Porsche Unleashed is reborn in Seacrest County giving cops and racers access to three of Stuttgart's finest. First up, the classic 1982 911 Turbo. Then, there's the legendary Porsche 959, one of the best Porsches ever built. Finally, there's the ultra-exclusive 2011 Porsche 911 Speedster, commemorating the classic 550 Speedster from Porsche's very beginning. So, there's the layout for you. There will be new events and new achievements to unlock. Each DLC will be worth $6.99 and will be available for the PS3 and XBOX 360 only. Check out the video below to see the rundown.

Nope, it's Still Ugly

2012 Porsche Panamera S Hybrid

Even with a green hybrid engine, this car is still ugly from ever single angle. This is the all new Porsche Panamera S Hybrid. It has the same engine as its SUV counterpart, the Cayenne S Hybrid: a 3.0-liter 333 horsepower Supercharged V6 engine combined with a 47 horsepower electric motor, bringing the total horses to 380. 0 to 60 is done in just 6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 168 MPH. Besides being fast, it is rather fuel efficient. Porsche says it will do 34.5 MPG in the U.S. Prices start at $95,000, which seems like a lot and is totally ridiculous. It might save you money at the pump, but it's still ugly.

2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

The last Porsche I tested in this game was the 911 GT2 RS, which was, by all means, a complete maniac. Once I got into this Porsche, however, a complete change of mood overwhelmed me. By looking at it, you could imagine that a car with red vinyls, a red wing, red mirror covers, a red grille, a red roll cage, red interior, and red rims would seem almost ridiculous, like it would sit in a shed planning different ways to execute its drivers. The thing is though, it isn't. This is the most stable and completely practical Porsche I've ever driven, which is odd given that this car was meant to be a track racer.

Tunnel Drift

We all know what the Porsche 911 looks like. The hardcore version of the 911 is the GT3 with added body work, more power, and less weight. The hardcore version of the GT3 is this car, the GT3 RS with even more power, less weight, racing wing, racing tires, and racing pedigree. So, think of this car as the hardcore version of the hardcore version of the 911. The 3.8-liter Flat-6 has been tuned from 345 to 450 horsepower. 0 to 60 is now reached in 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 193 MPH making this the fastest non-turbo 911 of the lot. That's all very good, but is the handling good as well?

Oakmont Valley

Very is the simple answer. This car was meant to be a race car for the road, and Porsche has certainly achieved this. The car feels very light and nimble in the corners. It doesn't mind letting itself loose sometimes, unlike some Ferraris that are somewhat restrained. When it comes to speed, you should be doing over 207 MPH with the Nitrous topped up. That should scare the SCPD a little. But, the best thing about this version of the 911 is that it's calm.

Filling the Tank up

Now, you may be looking at this car and going, "This is quite flashy! I don't think it's resolved the calm bit behind it." Don't be fooled. This car sets a different mood when you're behind the wheel of it. When you're cruising around Seacrest County at a reasonable speed of say 45 MPH, it stays calm and cool. The suspension is snug and comfortable and the car itself just glides along the road like a magic carpet. Put your foot down, the mood changes from soft and steady to wild and crazy. This car has a racing style pedigree so expect it rip your face off when you come to a corner. But, when you're feeling tired from mashing your foot into the carpet, or in this case punching the R2 Button with your thumb, and you feel like cruising again, the car's mood will change once more and you'll feel like you're driving in Paradise.

Rest Stop

If I had one criticism about this car is that throughout the years, Porsche has never managed to change the design of the 911 from its olden time Beetle shape that most of us have always hated. And this one is no exception, I mean look at it! It looks like a squashed beetle with a wing on it! Anyway, to buy one of these in real life requires $135,500 of your money. That does sound like a lot, but remember that this is part racing car. Buying the actual 911 GT3 RSR would cost over $400,000. Be thankful Porsche limited it to about $136,000.

The Power of Black pt. II

2012 Porsche Boxster S Black Edition

Last week, we saw Porsche give way to the 911 Black Edition. Now, the power of the Black has gone to the wing of the Boxsters. This is the all new Porsche Boxster S Black Edition, and, like the 911 Black Edition, it comes with more stuff, standard. The power output from the 3.4-liter Flat-6 has been raised from 310 to 320. It also comes with a wind deflector, auto-dimming mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control, climate control, GPS Navigation, universal audio interface, mobile phone preparation, Sound Package Plus, Bi-Xenon Lights with dynamic cornering lights, and LED Daytime Running Lights. The only optional stuff you can get with this car are the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes, the Porsche Active Suspension Management, adaptive sports seats with full memory function, full leather seats, and the 7-speed PDK transmission. Besides that, the car has all the standard stuff for just $65,200. Sounds like a deal, right? Act quickly, though, because only 987 will be made. Now that we've seen the 911 and the Boxster go black, could the Cayman, Panamera, or even the Cayenne go black as well? Let's find out in the coming weeks.

UK vs. Australia

Top Gear UK Hosts

Another episode of Top Gear UK has been uploaded by an anonymous user on YouTube. This episode features Top Gear UK and Top Gear Australia going head to head in a game of bests. If you have watched Top Gear Australia, most of the faces you will see are pretty familiar. Then Jeremy takes the 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO for a spin summarizing that it is a complete animal. Boris Becker, former Tennis World Champion, is the star in the reasonably priced, who is a serious fan of the Silver Arrow (Mercedes-Benz). A very interesting fact about him: he bought a very exclusive Porsche 959 for about €150,000 at the age of, get this, 19!

 How on earth was he able to buy that? Another interesting fact: throughout the years that he's owned that Porsche, he never crashed it. He managed to get it over 200 MPH on a highway, but he never smashed it up. He is a serious driver. He set a time of 1:45.9. That's faster than Peter Jones's time on a dry lap, all thanks to new STIG. Anyway, enough summaries. Just watch the show to see what happened.

The Power of Black

2012 Porsche 911 Black Edition

Never in Porsche history have they loved the color black this much. This special edition 911 is what they describe as "the entry-level Porsche". Now it might be $4000 more than the standard 911 Carrera, but it comes with more stuff standard than the regular Carrera. For example, the awesome Turbo II wheels are standard on this car. The other standard equipment on this car include black brake calipers, black sports leather interior, black sports steering wheel, black center console, Black Edition entry guards, Parking Assistance, Cruise Control, Porsche Communication Management with Navigation, BOSE Sound System, auto-dimming mirrors, and some rain-sensing wipers. Now, if you put all this in a regular 911 Carrera, you'll be emptying your pocket looking for $97,000 & change. The Black Edition gives you all of this for an incredibly reasonable $81,300. The only thing you'll want to pay for if you buy this car is a 7-speed PDK transmission since a 6-speed manual is standard. But other than that, it still has the 3.6-liter Flat-6 engine producing 345 horsepower. 0 to 60 MPH is done in 4.9 seconds. Flat out, it will be doing over 180 MPH. So, this certainly is an entry-level Porsche. But, it won't be here for long. Only 1,911 Black Editions will be made, so if you want to save your money on a new Porsche, you better act now.

What On Earth is This?

2011 Porsche Panamera Z Roadster

This is how crazy Japanese tuners can get. The Tokyo Auto Salon was on last weekend, showcasing a vast majority of custom imports and exotics. Some cars look quite sensible, but others are absolutely bonkers, and this is one of them. A random tuner thought it would be cool if he could turn his Nissan Fairlady Z (Z34) Roadster into a Porsche Panamera Roadster.

He managed to do it, and the results are unbelievably ugly. Look at it! That's the ugliest thing I've ever seen in my life! If you're going to customize a Z34, at least put a proper body-kit and a wing on it. Don't take the front and back end of one of the ugliest cars in the world and put it on a very nice Nissan. That makes everything worse. Anyway, that's his attempt to make a Panamera Roadster, but it seems that Porsche are already working on an official one. Let's hope it's not ugly.

2013 Porsche 918 RSR Race Car

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the hidden Porsche. The 918 RSR was unveiled today at the NAIAS in Detroit. This is no concept car. Porsche will actually be using this car in some Le Mans races. It's powered by an all new 6.2-liter V8 producing 563 horsepower (Mercedes SLS power). That engine is combined with two electric motors, both producing 75 kW of power each, for a grand total of 150 kW (201 horsepower) of power. So, combining the electric motors with the massive V8 engine, this car produces a grand total of 767 horsepower, making it the most powerful Hybrid in the world. And that's not the best part. Porsche went mad with this engine and managed to make rev up to 10,300 RPMs. That's about the same that you get in a Formula One. The idea for this powerful Hybrid racer was taken from one of their own actually: the 911 GT3 R Hybrid. That car won a sizable amount of ALMS (American Le Mans Series) races in its time. So, Porsche thought they would bring in a much more powerful, and yet fuel efficient competitor. Even as a race car, this is one of the best looking Porsche's I've seen in a very long time. New Year = New Auto Show

The NAIAS (North American International Auto Show) begins tomorrow and there are a lot of exciting new cars that will hit the showroom floor. For instance, the VW Passat is finally getting a more sophisticated makeover and will debut tomorrow. Buick's new small car, the Verano, will be making waves on the Buick set. GMC will be bringing out the big guns with their Sierra HD Terrain Concept. Mopar will showcase two awesomely tuned cars from Chrysler and Fiat. Then there's the one most petrolheads, including me, have been waiting for: the Mystery Porsche. Will the 918 production model be hitting the showroom floor, or does Porsche have something extra special in store for us? We'll have to wait and see tomorrow. I'll give you all the highlights and lists of newcomers tomorrow as the NAIAS kicks off.

The Porsche 918 GT Racer has already been confirmed for a Detroit debut, but rumor has it that the German Automaker is also unveiling an entirely new sports car based off the 918 Spyder. It could, most likely, look like this, which makes it look cool. Porsche is just bringing up so much suspense for the NAIAS. The 918 Spyder was a brilliant looking car and if they show us the production model on Monday, it will make the brand even cooler. Then, there's this brand new supercar they plan to unveil. What's it gonna look like? The only way to find out is to wait 'til Monday when the car will be unveiled. One thing's for certain: I hope it doesn't turn out ugly like the Panamera.

Fast with Four Doors

If you thought the Audi A7 was the pinnacle of Audi's four-door sports saloons, then you haven't heard what they're really up to. Rumors from Ingolstadt have it that Audi is working on a super-sports saloon called the A9 to take on the Porsche Panamera and the Aston Martin Rapide. Rumor also has it that they might be using some parts and chassis from another popular super 4-door: the Lamborghini Estoque. No word has been confirmed on whether this car will be in production, but expect to look rather dashing. You see, unlike Porsche that bases everything off the 911, Audi uses its own design and talent to shape their cars. For instance, take a look at the Audi A7.

Doesn't that look pretty? People say that Audi based this car off the Panamera, but I don't think they did. And it's not just the front view.

Rear View

The rear view looks great as well. So, if Audi does bring the A9 into production, it will be a properly designed car, unlike the Panamera, which looks like an ugly elephant.

NFS Hot Pursuit Car Profiles: Porsche 911 GT2 RS

2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS

This has got to be the sickest Porsche 911 I've ever driven in this game. It might look like a regular Porsche GT2, but everything about it is much more monstrous. For example, the front trunk is now made of Carbon Fiber rather than metal. The wheels are lighter alloys made for track racing. The massive wing in the rear is now much larger for aerodynamic purposes. And that 3.6-liter Twin-Turbocharged Flat-6 engine under the hood now produces 620 horsepower making this the most powerful Porsche ever made. 0 to 60 is done in 3.4 seconds on its way to a top speed of 205 MPH making it one of the fastest Porsches ever made. With the Nitrous topped out, you should reach 220 MPH, which is unbelievably fast. So, there are a lot of improvements making this better than the previous GT2 back in 2007. But, there are still some problems that need to be addressed. Problem #1: Power.

Too Much Power

The lightness is a good thing, but send too much power to the rear and you're in serious trouble. This car just has an ambition to slide whenever it gets the chance to. Put your foot down, and you'll lose control of a drift. Even being gingerly doesn't work because this car has a monstrous mind of its own. Now some of you Vette fans may be wondering, "Wait a minute. The ZR1 has 638 horsepower, is lighter, and runs at an insane top speed. This Porsche is no different." You're right and wrong. You see what GM has done that Porsche didn't think of was make the ZR1 good for public and racing roads. Yes, the car is low to ground, but it still features that classy GM suspension that absorbs bumps and cracks in the road, making it more comfortable. When cruising, it's calm and well tamed. It's like GM taming a ferocious lion. This Porsche is way different. They failed to tame the lion and it will eat the heads of any of its drivers. You lean one way, the Porsche will go the other way. You go gingerly, the Porsche will attack ferociously. In the end, it's all going to go wrong.

A Tunnel: where the Porsche sounds best

Problem #2: Grip. I imagined that when Porsche added the RS at the end of GT2, they would put more grip into the car. But, alas, they didn't. If you like drifting round every corner, that's fine. But, this Porsche, in the corners, is just crazy. The 911 GT3 RS is more of a track racer. Even with Sport Tires, it handles corners fairly well. This car just wants to go sideways at each corner. It's so difficult to control.

Pure Speed

But, there is one thing that this Porsche does extremely well: go fast. If you hit the top speed then slam on the nitrous, this Porsche will blow every other Exotic Car out of the park. When running from the police, they won't be able to even catch you. It might not be the greatest drifter or grip car, but give this car a mile-long straight and it will fly. But, honestly, this Porsche, all around, is crazy, from the price ($245,000) to the handling. I thought it best to take a rest and leave it in parking lot after testing it. In fact, I actually did.

Girls Can Drive, Too Boys!

I know that there's been some stig lately about girls being the worst drivers in the world because of their bad phone habits or nervousness behind the wheel. But, truth be told; there are some good feminine drivers out there. Danica Patrick is one of them, but there's another one that you probably haven't heard before. Her name is Sabine Schmitz and Germany has heard of her. Some drivers call her "The Queen of the Nürburgring", and I can see why. She's taken first place twice in the 24 Hour Nürburgring Race in a BMW M3 GT Racer in the 1990's. Now, she serves as the popular "Ring Taxi" Driver for BMW driving the BMW M5. She's appeared on Top Gear three times; once taking Clarkson around the Nürburgring, a second time racing the Audi R8 against The STIG in a Porsche 997 GT3, and a third time receiving the Top Gear Award for Coolest German. She's really done a lot with her career as a racer. Here are some videos of her in action.

First Post of 2011: Cayenne Coupe?

2011 Merdad Cayenne Coupe

Believe it or not, but what you're looking at is the 2-door version of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo. A German tuner known as Merdad was able to slice the passenger section off and only combine the front seats and the rear trunk space to create what what you're seeing now; a Cayenne Coupe. And that's not the only thing he did. He added a new bodykit, 22-inch rims, and some new turbos increasing the horsepower from 500 to 740. Merdad claims that this sporty CUV (Coupe Utility Vehicle) will do 0 to 60 in 4.4 seconds. I think it will be able to do it in a lesser time considering how small and powerful it is. Look for this 2-door Cayenne this year only in Germany.

News Flash: Hidden Porsche Coming to Detroit

2010 Porsche 918 Spyder Concept Study (Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit)

There has been some recent speculation on Porsche unveiling a very secret model at the NAIAS (North American International Auto Show) in Detroit next month. Some say it will be the production model of the 918 Spyder. Others say it will be another Porsche hybrid. Now, those speculations can be put to rest, because Porsche has officially announced that a racing version of the 918 Spyder is coming to Detroit, and it may look something like this...

This picture was rendered by a young 13-year old designer from WorldCarFans usernamed porschecarreragtmay6. Now, it might not look like this entirely, but this just gives us an idea of what the production version could look like. This young kid did a good job rendering it. 2010 Chevy Corvette ZR1

Most of us have a dream of driving fast cars. I can relate to that. If I go car shopping, I will get a car that's powerful and can get me to work on time. But, out of all honesty, I love speed demons; those cars that just defy speed by all means. If you're looking for a super fast street-legal car, here's a list of current contenders.

2011 Lexus LFA

1. Lexus LFA
This is the fastest car Lexus has ever made with a top speed of 202 MPH, just as fast as a Gallardo. Now I put this car on the list instead of the Lambo because it's just crazy! It handles fairly well, but for a car with stats that match the Gallardo for a price 3x as much as the Gallardo ($375,000), this car is in a class of its own.

2010 Chevy Corvette ZR1

2. Chevy Corvette ZR1
This is the fastest Vette ever produced with a top speed of 207 MPH. What makes this car so special? Most supercars are built from special leathery material with carbon fiber stuffings and aluminum boltage, but as for this Vette, the basics is where it's at. The body was made from tough plastic. The rims are regular meshes. The roof is made out of Carbon Fiber, but that's the only Carbon Fiber you'll find in this Vette. The product: a car that can outrun a Enzo Ferrari in a straight line.

3. Ferrari 458 Italia
The fastest V8 Ferrari ever built with a 0 to 60 time of 3.3 seconds and top speed of 204 MPH, topping the Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera. What makes this car special? Thanks to the power of science, this is the first Ferrari in a long time that has been properly designed. The handling is phenomenal and speed is blistering. I am impressed at Ferrari have done with this car. Everything in it just fits!

Another one from Ferrari. This is the fastest front-engined V12 that they have produced with a top speed of 208 MPH. What makes this car special? Only well renowned Ferraris deserve the GTO badge, and this car has earned it. Its new more powerful V12 engine is more dignified and exclusive than any other of the V12's Ferrari makes. It also handles very well with a high ambition of sticking its sexy tail out.

2011 Bentley Continental Supersports

5. Bentley Continental Supersports
This is fastest ocean-liner Bentley has ever made with a 204 MPH top speed. What else is special about this car other than it's top speed. It should seem surprising because this car weighs 2.5 tons, making it pretty big and heavy for a seriously fast luxury coupe.

I truly believe Porsche could have done better with this one. It's an all new Twin-Turbocharged flat-6 engine produces 620 horsepower giving it a top speed of 205 MPH. With that much horsepower, you could do as much as 215 MPH. But anyway, such speed should be revered. If all it could do was 205, that's fine. There are cars with 700 horsepower that can't even do 190 MPH. Sounds embarrassing, doesn't it.

2011 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport

7. Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport
This car has made the 2010 Guinness Book of World Records for breaking the land speed record of production cars: 268 MPH! As we speak, Shelby Super Cars is trying to make their competitor, the Ultimate Aero III, much faster than this French bullet. I doubt they can do it. Bugatti rightfully deserved this title. There won't be car that will beat it in a very long time.

So here you are: your kings of speed for 2010. I hope a car on this list is the right one for you.

Aspiration is Key

We now live in a time where cars make power seem easy with Turbochargers and Superchargers. But, what about the cars that don't have these things? Where have they gone? Not to worry, some companies haven't been swayed by the ways of the turbo. So, here's a list of some cars that are powered by just power and pure engineering.

2009 Honda S2000

1. Honda S2000
This was and still is the fastest and most powerfully Naturally Aspirated 4-cylinder in the world with a rating of 240 horsepower and a top speed of 150 MPH. It handled corners gracefully and was a well known drifting machine. It was one of the greatest looking Hondas of it's time, since most Hondas are ugly, except the CR-Z.

2008 TVR Sagaris

It's a pantomizer this car. To this day, it still is the fastest and most powerful naturally aspirated V6 car on the planet with a power rating at 405 sharing it with its brother, the Tuscan S, and a top speed of 200 MPH. It was lightweight, quick, and unbelievably crazy. And it was all this without need of a turbo. Britain does it again!

2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

3. Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG
Germans are crazy, and it's proved with this Merc. This year, Mercedes-Benz unleashed this German beast with a new 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 563 horsepower making it the most powerful Naturally Aspirated V8 in the world. It could hit a top speed of 198 MPH and hit 60 in 3.7 seconds making it very quick. It's also very good looking with its top model LED lights and signature Gullwing Doors. So there you are, one crazy German supercar from Mercedes-Benz.

2008 Bristol Fighter S

4. Bristol Fighter S
The British have done it again! This swoopy coupe is the fastest and most powerful naturally aspirated V10 car in the world with 628 horsepower and a top speed of 210 MPH. Might I add that this was made possible because of the all-mighty Viper. Since Chrysler and Bristol have been sharing engines since 1961, Bristol thought they'd use a Viper engine in their supercar and tune it a little bit to make it better. It might be cheating, but the outcome was magnificent.

2011 Aston Martin One-77

5. Aston Martin One-77
This is the most powerful naturally aspirated V12 of all time. The numbers: 750 horsepower, 0 to 60 in 3.4 seconds, 221 MPH, $1.7 Million. This is an artsy car with it's many curves and lines. It's very beautiful with big eyes and sexy grille. This is an ideal non turbo supercar. Now, it might be the most powerful, but it isn't the fastest.

1997 McLaren F1

6. McLaren F1
Even though its V12 engine was surpassed by an Aston Martin, the mighty McLaren F1 is to this day the fastest naturally aspirated car in the world with a top speed of 240 MPH with only 627 horsepower in its engine. When it was released, it was one of the greatest vehicles ever created; and it still is.

So there you are: your non-turbo heroes. Feel free to honor them.

Crazy Cayenne

2011 Gemballa 958 Tornado

Remember how I said Gemballa builds the best custom Porsches? This is proof. Take a look at this awesome custom Cayenne that they've just unveiled. The original one looked a little daft. This one actually looks superb. Not only that. It's crazy! It's still a work in progress, but Gemballa has told me that this SUV will produce as much as 670 horsepower from it's customized Twin-Turbocharged V8 engine.
