Jeremy's 2010 Car of the Year

2010 Pagani Zonda R Nürburgring Edition (Shift 2: Unleashed)
It's still the king of the Nürburgring with a time of 6:47. It's one of the lightest race cars ever weighing less than a Ford Fiesta. It's one of the fastest race cars to go round the Top Gear test track with a time of 1:08.5, two seconds faster than the Ferrari FXX. It's Jeremy Clarkson's 2010 Car of the Year. It's the Zonda R. Shift 2: Unleashed is bringing this car back for more madness around the Green Ring and other tracks in the game. 750 horsepower is packed under the hood of this car fueled by it's 6-liter AMG V12 engine. 0 to 60 is done in just 3.0 seconds on its way to a top speed of about 220 MPH. It was one of the most exclusive Zondas ever created, with a factory price of about $1.2 Million. I'm saying too many facts here, but let's get one thing straight: this was one of the greatest supercars ever created. It is a shame that the Zonda had to go, even though it left us with one last model. It turns out that the Zonda R wasn't actually the last of the breed of the Zonda. There was the Zonda PS, the Zonda Uno, the Zonda HH, the Zonda GJ, the Zonda RAK, the Zonda 750, the Zonda Absolute...

2011 Pagani Zonda Tricolore
...and this: the Zonda Tricolore. In honor of the Italian Air Force, this commemorative supercar is just a Zonda R for the road. Throughout its life, the Zonda has strived to be one of the best. And know that it's at the end of its life, we can all agree that it has. The Huayra has big shoes to fill. The Zonda will be missed.

Exclusivity Runs with the Wind

2012 Pagani Huayra (Shift 2: Unleashed)
Remember how the Porsche 918 Spyder Concept made its video game debut in Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit? It looks like Pagani have embraced the idea and brought their newest creation, the Huayra, along to be part of NFS's newest game Shift 2: Unleashed. Named after the Andean God of the Wind, the Huayra is Pagani's answer to whatever Ferrari has in store next. The all new 6.0-liter AMG Twin-Turbo V12 engine produces about 730 horsepower. It will do 0 to 60 in about 3.5 seconds on its way to a top speed of 230 MPH. Also, it has a very interestingly designed interior, luxurious leather, and an engine sound that will either scare you or blow you away. Take a listen in the video below and pre-order Shift 2: Unleashed now, if you think you can take it.

Test Drive Unlimited 2: Zonda-Rific

2011 Pagani Zonda Tricolore
I think I'm becoming Richard Hammond thanks to Test Drive Unlimited 2. I never realized how magnificent the Zonda was 'til this game, especially the one I'm driving here: the Zonda Tricolore. Made in honor of the Italy and the Fecce Tricolori Aermacchi MP-339-A/PAN Aircraft, this car is a fighter jet for the road. It looks like a regular Zonda, but don't be fooled. This is Zonda Cinque. It has the same Carbotanium goodness that the Cinque has along with the 678 horsepower 7.3-liter AMG V12 engine. It even has Jet inspired design including rear thrusters and small fin on top of the hood. Of course, this car was only available to the lucky souls who pre-ordered the game off of STEAM and costs just about $2.3 Million. It might not be as fast as a Bugatti Veyron, but it sure handles better than it.

2010 Pagani Zonda F Roadster
Then, there's the glorious Zonda F Roadster. Made out of naked Carbon Fiber, this is the sickest roadster ever created. The regular Zonda F has 605 horsepower. This one has 650. Roadsters are also notorious for being heavier than their hardtop counterparts. Not Zondas. This car is actually a third and a bit lighter than the regular Zonda F, making it unbelievably fast. Honestly, I'm just bowled over with these cars. I even made a movie about these hyper cars while jamming with Swedish House Mafia. Check it out below.

Test Drive Unlimited 2: Review

2010 Pagani Zonda F Roadster
Test Drive Unlimited is back, and this time, things get a lot more exotic. Last time, we were in Hawaii trying to make a name for ourselves in some of the fastest cars in the world. Now, were in Ibiza for the Solar Crown Racing Tournament were the best racers compete for big prizes and lots and lots of money. Wow, I sounded like Tess Wintory back there. Anyway, TDU is back bringing some of its exclusive cars and winding roads with it, and i must say, it has gotten a lot better.

2011 Audi R8 5.2 FSI Quattro Coupe
Besides the lack of some manufacturers such as Wiesmann, Lamborghini, and BMW, the car list is actually legit, with up to 100 cars in game, and some DLCs coming soon. Eden Games really did a fantastic job with the cars. All the details are just right, even in the interior. The leather looks absolutely real, it's breathtaking. As for engine sounds, they worked on that as well. Most of the cars in this game sound like the real ones, especially this R8 V10 Coupe. If you just listen to the sound at 7000 RPMs, it'll be so good that you'll be having a crisis.

Ferrari 308 Challenge
As for the environment, it is astounding that they can use satellite images and pure design to make both islands, Oahu and Ibiza, so beautiful. The roads look realistic. The trees are sensational. The homes that you can own look absolutely real. This game just pushes all the right buttons. Whenever you're driving, there is a moment that you'll just stop and take everything in and see just how beautiful exotic islands are. They really did a good job visualizing this.

2010 Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG
Gameplay has been improved as well. Now, there's a day and night cycle which seems pretty good and only lasts about 48 minutes for each shift. What's also impressive is the dynamic weather that happens when you least expect it. It could be in the middle of the night when you think that all has gone well. Or, it could be in the morning when you just get up. Now, if you remember the last game, you'd know that the convertibles and roadster weren't able to put their hoods up at all. This game allows you to do that in real time, no matter what convertible you're driving.

2011 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport
I was testing this game for some time and thought all would go well, but then I discovered the elephant in the corner: handling. It's still sloppy like the last game. They might've said that they've improved, but honestly, they didn't. There are some corners where you get understeer for no apparent reason. Sometimes, when you turn too much you'll find yourself spinning in the other direction. Whenever you're in the air, be careful where you land, because you might end up in a ditch, or worse in the sea. The only way to perfect driving in this game is to adopt their driving physics, which will be hard for Gran Turismo fans.

2011 Ariel Atom 500 V8
Honestly, this game would've been the perfect Multiplayer Racing game if the handling was improved and if their weren't any bugs with it. They still need to fix those things. And, if they do create a sequel to this one, hopefully it will be brilliant. But for now, TDU 2 will get 4 out of 5 stars from me. So, in conclusion, if you're looking for a realistic racer, stick with Gran Turismo 5. However, if you want something better and more beautiful than boring and dull Need For Speed World, this is your game.

Breaking News: An Italian Car is Coming Here...

2012 Pagani Huayra
...and you're looking at it. For the first time ever, Pagani will be releasing their newest creation, the Huayra, in the United States later this year. This is first time the Italian automaker ever released one of their cars over to our shores. Since the Zonda was born, it was marked illegal for our states because of the power and seats. Now, it seems Pagani wants to share their newest creation with everyone, not just Europeans.
"We are thrilled at the opportunity to represent the Pagani brand in the United States and we look forward to the successful launch of the Huayra"- Horacio Pagani
The new Huayra will come with a Twin-Turbocharged 7.3-liter AMG V12 producing more than 700 horsepower. It weighs only 1.5 tons and will do 0 to 60 in about 3.3 seconds onto a top speed of about 230 MPH. Prices have not been announced yet, but I'm certain they'll be in the millions.

Flowing with the Wind

2012 Pagani C9 Huarya
And here it is! After weeks of teasers and spy shots, Pagani have finally released photos of their Zonda replacement. The all new C9 Huarya still keeps the Zonda flare, but now has front LED lights, some Zonda R styling, Gullwing doors, jet-like fins, and air conditioners placed in the most reasonable of places.

Nutsack Air Conditioner
Under the hood of this italian beast is a new 6.0-liter 700+ horsepower Twin-Turbocharged AMG V12. 0 to 60 is done in 3.2 seconds on its way to a top speed of 230 MPH. Not mention that this car weighs less than 3,000 lbs. making it very light. This car also comes with loads of carbon fiber, some Italian-rich luxury, and some very powerful brakes which give it the possibility of braking from 124 MPH to 0 in an eye-popping 4.3 seconds, just like the Zonda. This is an epic turnout from what car magazines describe as the potential Ferrari-beater. No word on the prices yet, but expect it to be very expensive. The car will make its official debut in Geneva in March.

Is This it?

2012 Pagani C9 Huayra
This could be it! After all this time of waiting and looking at spy shots and videos, the Spanish version of the Car Magazine has leaked the actual Pagani C9 with all the black tape and covers taken off. If this is truly the Pagani Huayra, which is its official name now,  it looks like they've overdone the design a little bit. But, nevertheless, this is a new chapter for Pagani. It's been over 10 years since the Zonda has been with us. It's been claimed as one of the best Supercars on earth. Let's see if this car can keep the legacy of the Zonda as Pagani moves up.

C9 Teaser #3

2012 Pagani C9 Deus Venti/Huayra Prototype
The C12's replacement is looking more refined and detailed than ever in this next teaser recently released by Pagani. It shows more exterior and interior detail giving us a better look of the car. You'll even be able to see the hood marque in the middle of the film. How many more teasers until the launch? Like you, I'm also at the point of just yelling out, "Just show it already!!!". This car will make its official debut in March at the Geneva Motor Show.

C9 Teaser #2

2011 Pagani C9 Prototype (Courtesy of CarScoop.blogspot.com)
Another teaser featuring the all new C9 Pagani has been released. This time, we get a sneak peek of what the interior for this mighty replacement will look like. It looks almost the same as the interior for the Zonda, but there may be a few differences in the leather and the lining. I'll have more on that later. Also, it seems that the C9 may have found its name, or has it? Well, there are two choices in the works. First, there's Huarya which is Argentinian for "wind", since the founder of Pagani, Horatio Pagani, is indeed from Argentina. Then, there's Deus Venti, which is latin for "God of the Winds". So, as you can see here, whatever name they pick, we'll know that this is all new C9 will drive faster than the wind (metaphorically speaking). Check out the teaser below.

Step Aside, Zonda!

2010 Pagani Zonda R (Gran Turismo 5)
For the past year, Pagani have been working on the Zonda's replacement codenamed the C9. The Zonda R was actually a race-ready prototype of the upcoming supercar.

2011 Pagani C9 Prototype (Courtesy of WorldCarFans)
We've seen pictures of the car in the works and were given specs of what engine the car will have: a 6.0-liter 690 horsepower AMG V12 engine with 738 lb.-ft. of torque. Besides that, we haven't received anything else. However, now, Pagani have released a teaser clip of the supercar. It features Pagani CEO, Horatio Pagani, sipping a cup of coffee at his home. Right beside the cup is a small 1:43 scale model of the actual car. We might not see the actual car, but we can see that it still keeps Zonda tradition with the centrally-mounted exhaust system. The C9 is expected to make its worldwide debut in March at the Geneva Motor Show.
